I never thought I would post recipes here, but today I came up with something great and wanted to share it. There are probably thousands of similar recipes on the web, but none of them is mine.
Just lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about nutrition; it’s a topic that I suspect tends to concern people more as they get older and start a) thinking about life extension as a matter requiring attention, and b) having friends drop dead of heart attacks.
One thing I recently read somewhere (surely from an authoritative source) was that one should eat vegetables that are darkly or strongly coloured, and particularly Things That Are Orange. I realized that aside from the odd carrot, I have very little orange in my diet. Accordingly, on my next trip to the supermarket, I bought a tin of purÃ©ed pumpkin, though with no clear plan in mind.
Well, today I was looking around for something quick and healthy to eat, my eye landed on that tin of pumpkin, and I thought “pumpkin soup.” I mean, it’s half way there already, right?
Well, yes, actually, and it took very little effort to turn it into something I’d serve at a dinner party. (more…)
